“Making it Happen, Makes it Happen”
It’s that time of year when we look back on the old and usually sum it up in a simple sentence of word.
“I can’t wait for 2014 to be over”
Amongst many others. We analyse the year that was, sum it up and dream of change. Maybe when we look back we realise that the old year was much like the year before. Same job, same boss, same career path. We get stuck in a big pile of sameness…
Some will get motivated to change while many others will cross their fingers and hope for luck. Wishing and hoping is not a strategy by themselves. They must be accompanied by action.
There is a saying that goes something like this.
“If you don’t know where you want to be in five years, you’re most likely there already”
Again, think back. If nothing much has changed in the last five years, what will you bring to the table to drive change now.
Reflect on this scenario:
You are at a BBQ this time next year and you can hear and see yourself say “2015 was a great year because …………………………………”
What made it a great year?
What goals did you achieve?
How does this make you feel?
What do you have because of it?
What have you become because of it?
It’s more than goal setting. Most of us have goals…too many of us call them dreams and wishes. And do nothing about it. That’s why we fail. We fail to act. We fail to make it happen.
It’s more than goal setting, It’s goal achieving. For goals to be achieved, you need to make it happen.
Together they are the most powerful goal achieving tool in the world. Miss one pillar however and the result changes. Master the four and success is guaranteed.
Stay with me here, as I explain this simply.
The world is full of intention. Books have been written on it, millions have been made on it. But by itself it is nothing more than sitting on your hands waiting for something. Intention creates a desire. Intention creates motivation.
In the concept of the Four Pillars Intention is simple.
Do you know what you want?
Many of us don’t.
Step 1. Know what you want.
We are naturally resistant to change and we can blame our brains for this. When we take the time to truly create vision; when we can see ourselves, feel ourselves achieving our goals, we break down that natural resistance.
Step 2 :Create vision. See yourself achieving
This is one of the tough bits. You know have to work towards what you set out to achieve. Currently, where you stand is the furtherest away from the goal and every day you should take steps everyday to achieve.
Step 3: Take steps daily towards your goal.
How do you maintain clarity on your goals. Inevitable life will toss up challenges and obstacles in our way. What step will you take to maintain the clarity of the goal and map your way around the obstacles.
Step 4. Keep clear and focused on your goal.
The choice is yours.
Do you want more of the same? Do you want to make 2015 the best year of your life? The choice is simple and it’s your to make.
“Making it happen, makes it happen”
Life really can be simple. I believe deeply the simpler something is, the more easily understood something is. There isn’t much point serving the world and creating programs that only elite scholars can understand. Yet I see this everyday. We are blessed with conscious thought. It’s how we use it that is the key. And it’s important to use it well as over 97% of our everyday actions happen subconsciously. We are truly on auto-pilot, and it’s the quality of our auto-pilot that determines our success in life. Being blessed with conscious thought allows us the capacity to change this everyday.
